Hello, I’m Simon Nelson, and welcome to Same Difference. 

 

Same Difference is a values-led consultancy helping organisations turn their commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion into meaningful, lasting change.

I provide bespoke, engaging EDI training—delivered face-to-face or online—designed around the specific needs, experiences and challenges of your organisation.

My approach recognises that equality alone is not always enough. Equity means understanding that people face different barriers and may need different opportunities, resources and support to participate, contribute and succeed.

 

Diversity is about recognising and valuing difference. Inclusion is about ensuring every person is heard, respected and able to belong.

As an experienced workplace mediator, I also provide a safe, flexible and structured process through which individuals and teams can explore difficult issues, rebuild trust and work towards resolving workplace conflict in a timely and constructive way.

With more than 25 years of lived and professional experience in this field, I understand that creating an inclusive workplace requires more than good intentions, policies or legal compliance. It requires honest reflection, courageous conversations and a willingness to recognise and address the behaviours, structures and inequalities that can prevent people from thriving.

I bring my authentic self to every training session. I am open, honest and candid because authenticity helps to build trust—and trust creates safer spaces in which people feel able to speak, listen, question, learn and share their experiences. 

 

My sessions make difficult conversations possible. They encourage people to explore issues of identity, power, privilege, bias and inequality constructively, even when those conversations feel unfamiliar or uncomfortable. Because meaningful inclusion is not created by avoiding discomfort; it is created when we are willing to learn through it.
